Sacred Conversation
Finished this recently. It's my take on the sacred conversation paintings of Catholic saints of different eras hanging out together, presumably in heaven, having a chat. I'm hoping to get better photos soon.

PIETA
The latest. I'm starting to experiment with painting on different surfaces – I really like the slipperiness of cardboard, but I want a larger canvas. This is on plywood. I've left the background unpainted, you can see the knots and wood grain. A return to the picnic blanket.

previously unposted paintings
Here are a slew of paintings that I neglected to post on this site for one reason or another. Some aren't quite finished, some the photo is terrible. Actually most of them the photos aren't great. But until I get better photos, here they are in no particular order.
"Submission"
"A Gentleman's Dilemma" In retrospect, I like this one better than I thought.
"Edge of Town" This it the first painting with the halloween masks. Two details below.
"Kitten"
"Prize Pitbull 1" I love the machete. Too bad the rest is a mess.
"Prize Pitbull 2" I still think there's something in this idea that I haven't gotten to yet.
"Friendly Attachment"
This one is unfinished.
"Abattoir"
"Accosted II"
"Accosted III"

Beachgoers
This is the latest. When it dries a bit, I think I'll do a little more shading on the masks. But otherwise, done.

'Hidden Things'
Here is the latest finished painting. I've always thought that crowbars are so useful – equally good for prying things open and killing zombies.

a couple one-offs
I made a few small paintings on cardboard for a group show – the theme was 'recycling,' I recycled the cardboard.

Finished this over the weekend. Mr. Red has expanded his wardrobe and gained a few friends. I'm not big on the subject facing the viewer, but they seem to me to be very self-protective despite the comfortable setting and lack of apparent threat. Not sure what I'm calling it, perhaps 'Safety in Numbers.'

This painting has been a bit problematic. I love the figure, I think he's just right. But the rest got a bit overworked, so I sanded it down and went at it again. Might have another go after the show is over. The lighting is a bit odd -- there's a glare that I couldn't correct for -- but you get the idea. It's entitled 'Reflecting.'
This is 'Accosted!'
